We fitted four brand spanking new traditional Victorian awnings to the Cote Brasserie site in Oxford yesterday. Victorian awnings are our specialty as we’ve been making them for a very long time now so we’ve got pretty good at it! We have improved this type of awning over time to ensure they can cope with the British weather. For example, we have replaced some of the boxing with a more resistant aluminium casing at the top and back. In the old timber version, the water or snow would rest on the wood and slowly eat into it, however we still use the hardwood cheeks and timber front lath and tacker. The awning is operated by a pull down pole.
